Laughter or Tears
Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward. ~Kurt Vonnegut
To clear up something from yesterday, as brought to my attention by my valentine, the title Cars and Stars really didn't get explained too well. I started my blog wanting to quote an old Rush song about being in the gutter and how one man saw the stars and one saw the cars. I quickly found that those lyrics were impossible to track down and kept going anyway on my original thought. So please forgive me for the lack of tying it all together.
Yesterday I was at a planning meeting for an event with some really dynamic women. The event that is being planned is something I have yet to see, but I have been told and I look forward with anticipation to it. When you get alot of dynamic and focused women together the energy is over the top. Everyone talks at the same time, side bar conversations go on and the potential for drama abounds. Not with this crew, the energy is focused and the side bar comments are as well. What struck me was that the potential for frustration and exhaustion was always thwarted by laughter. As the details are hashed out, laughter abounds. It may be because we are all crazy, but the laughter is a welcome friend. I like laughing, I like making light of things, as exhausted as the meeting made us all, we ended with some really great laughs. Waking up today I'm tired, but I feel younger and not older and that is priceless.
So yesterday the choice was to set your focus on the stars or the cars. Today, when you find frustration, choose laughter and not tears. My mom always says that tears cause havoc on our face, and mom's are always right!
